Internet Safety - Part One
Wednesday, 06 August 2008 16:50
Over the next few ‘scoops’ I am going to focus on internet safety. During the holidays I attended a session that spoke about internet safety and made me really aware of how important internet safety is.
3 TIPS FOR SAFE BROWSING
  • 1. Keep computers in a central place, (not in bedrooms) and set clear boundaries for use.
  • 2. Make sure your children know to never give out personal information, like surnames, names of schools they attend, places they go etc to strangers they may speak to on social networking websites.
  • 3. Have an ‘over the shoulder’ policy with your children, whereby they are told you will occasionally look over their shoulder to check up on what they are doing. This is not snooping, the only time children feel ‘awkward’ about this is when they are doing something they shouldn’t be. Talk with your children about the need for anything they do online to be ok for you to look at.

Hope this helps! Keep an eye out for more tips in the next scoop.
